| Artist Wells Biography |
ARTIST WELLS,
Artist Stacey Wells grew up in the beauty
of North Vancouver where she began her love for
drawing .Sadly when Stacey was two her father
Warner Wells, a pilot was killed in a plane crash
when a passenger put a bomb on board .Because of
this Stacey spent countless wonderful hours at
her grandparents who lived on the waterfront at
18th and Argyle in West Vancouver .Her
Grandfather would teach her to skip rocks on the
ocean ,she loved to watch the ripples in the
sunlight , this is where her fascination with
water began .Years later Stacey traveled with her
mom and sister’s to Australia where they lived
out their fathers dream to take his family there.
With stays in Fiji ,and Hawaii along the way
Stacey catalogued the colors, sights in her
minds eye to eventually unleash in her, large
vibrant acrylic paintings and unique underwater
portraits. Stacey Attended Carson Graham
Secondary which had an incredible art program.
Stacey flourished with great mentors, Wing Chow
and Martin Place, who taught commercial design,
lithography and sculpture. Stacey excelled in
sculpture and won a scholarship award for her
work. In her early work she was inspired by
Andrew Wyeth and credits her technical drawing
skills to hours of studying his work. As the
years progressed Stacey found new inspiration in
artists such as Warhol, Gauguin, Van Gogh and
Dali, Stacey’s style loosened up and with each
passionate brush stroke she created her own
unique style. After high school Stacey Attended
Capilano College and completed 1 year in the
studio arts program . Eventually Wells moved to
Langley, a rich artist’s community where Stacey
took classes at and entered her work in the
Fraser River Art School and Gallery. She was
awarded peoples choice, best in Show. This artist
has done many series of artworks encompassing
subject matter such as water, underwater
portraits, red peppers, Rock stars(Elton John,Rod
Stewart,Lukas Rossi ect), hockey
players(Roberto Luongo,Markus Naslund,Trevor
Linden Todd, Bertuzzi ect), banana leaves and is
currently working on a series of paintings of
Vancouver. Last year Stacey took several photos
on a trip to east Hastings to feed the homeless
and has started creating a group of portraits
depicting the homeless people of Vancouver, in
hopes to help them. Stacey has donated paintings
to the annual art action, Art works for Annmore (
a fundraiser to buy arts supplies for the school)
hosted by Perry Solkowski .At the local
elementary school Stacey has donated many
enjoyable hours teaching portrait classes to the
grade 7 students. Stacey has an on going exhibit
